How much would I get for...

    my old car.

It's kinda not in great shape. I don't want to be dishonest about the sale - I want to describe as is (mainly because theres no way I'd get away with lying!! lol)

    Here are the main details:

    97 Mitsubishi Colt
    120,000 miles approx
    needs 4 new tyres
    needs bushings
up for NCT in Dec - I it won't pass
drinking oil and petrol at moment (€20 gets about 50miles!)
car is extremely jumpy - very noticable in 2nd and 3rd gear
hard to get into 2nd when it's cold lol
there is a scratch on windscreen - from poor wipers - which can be annoying - right in your line of vision
was broken into and the steering column had to be replaced
tracking is waaay off - actually quite dangerous at this point.
    carpet is really ratty.
    Just bought a new battery
    no body damage

I know it's bad, but surely I would get something for it!? If I was willing to put the money into it the car would be ok - I just think its too old.

There is tax on it until august - was going to try get this money back - but do you think maybe if I left it with the car I may have a better chance of selling it?

Or do you think there is nobody mad enough to buy it? I know there have to be some nuts out there that would - I've seen worse on the road.

Anyway - how much do you think I'd get for it? :pac:

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Your old car? So you already have a new one?

If it was mine, I'd get the tax (€100?) back and scrap it. I'd rather scrap it than give it away for free because the way you describe it, the car is a deathtrap. The fewer "company cars" out there, the better.

The only positive items are the battery (probably get €25) and the tax (refunded from tax office after declaration). Best bet would be to wash and hoover and get some nice pics and put on an auction site with no reserve and hope for the best.

But you see scrapping it is going to cost me money, money I don't have. Yeah I already have a new one, but its not 'new' new.

I was supposed to be giving it to the bro but there's no way I'd do that now. Hence advertising it as is, maybe someone would like to buy it to rip apart as a project car or something. I would not sell it to someone without being honest about its condition as I wouldn't like to send someone out onto the road in it.

Apart from the tracking and bushings, everything else thats wrong with it isn't dangerous. Its just old and I didn't maintain it well. Won't be making the same mistake with the next one

Any family member looking to buy a new car? Could maybe work a scrappage deal on it if it was bought in your name.

claim the tax back & do a free advert offering it for sale for a very small price. You say there has no body damage, that could make it very useful for someone with similar car with crash damage etc.

Sounds like a good project car for someone. Those Colts are popular with boy racers so I'm sure there's a lot of engines/gearboxes around (if they really are that bad in yours), and if the body is decent enough there may be some interest in it.

Take some pics and put it on Adverts.ie, DoneDeal, etc.

The car has to be disposed of to claim a refund of tax
