Some of the garages will take your car as they will pass it off in the trade to someone south of the border. I wouldnt expect a great price though. Having said that, the trade in prices rom dealers here are pretty low too. BEst option is to sell privately and then check both north & south for cash price

the NI dealer will have trade contacts over the border, in theory if your car is something a southern garage mightn't necessarily have to retail themselves (as in if it's not really new) they should be able to give you a similar trade in to a southern dealer.

Yes for £50 or so but the car you are bringing up will likely be cheaper up there so they will only be able to offer you the UK trade in price not the Irish.

Yes, I have done this last October. The garage took my trade in, I bought an ex demo model from them, they organised the VRT, number plates etc. I was happy enought with the trade in price, and it was great to have the paperwork sorted out for me. All payments were in Euro, and luckily the exchange rate was decent enough at that time.

The only issues I had was with the after sales service, had to keep hassling them to get a second key, and unfortunately they didn't send the change of ownership docs in time to Shannon, which resulted in me getting a toll fine. It was eventually sorted, but I would definitely consider buying my next car up North, (from a different garage) as I got a higher spec, and was happy with the price.

I believe many main dealers now offer the service of sorting out the VRT etc.
