Umbrella Co vs Limited co Vs sole tradership

    Hi Folks,

Quick question on behalf of another chap.

Hes an IT contractor, hes just gotten offered basically as we need you per hour work, his 1st job is on tomorrow. The guy is currently on the dole and receiving rent allowance.

Now heres the thing, the new boss would like him to join cxc and become an umbrella co, now Ive heard not so good things about cxc and also Im unsure of how this would affect his benefits. Basically he could get 0 days work a week or could get 3 or 5 whatever. Id be very interested of peoples experince of cxc?

He`s also considering going the sole trader route but as far as Im aware, you cant claim any dole as a sole trader can you? Although I know there is an enterprise scheme but Im not very familiar with how that works.

My advise was maybe set up a ltd Co and become an employee of that ltd company and sign on and off as and when he gets work, of course then whether or not he gets work he will incur annually accountancy fees.

I said Id throw it up here for some advise, its a while not since Ive dealt with these type of queries myself so any advise at all would be much appreciated and Im open to any comments on the 3 above suggestions.

    Thabk you.
