I did a quick search and didn't see one of these here - they're quite popular on other forums so I thought I'd start one.

Trailer Park Boys - Countdown to Liquor Day 7/10

Shutter Island - very good, but dragged in a few places. 8/10.

Why did you think it merited 7 out of 10? Or will this be just another list of films and numbers?

Films and numbers would be good

Films and Numbers will get this thread closed very quickly (list threads piss the mods off) :)
Better add some reasons or discussion to keep it interesting.

How is this any different to the "What have you watched recently?" thread?

    Like this
Assassination of a high school president

Good film, Mischa Barton gets the baps out

    4.5

    Or this
    Hachiko: A Dog's Story.

Got to be a dog lover to really appreciate it.
Both of us enjoyed this movie, forget a tissue, grab a towel.

Give credit to Richard Gere for his role, rather than acting "I like dogs" and run the risk of coming across as false, he came across very genuine.
It is a sad movie, but I would not have missed it.

For this house I would give the performances 10/10 (dog included).
For the way the family treated the dog and did not consider his feelings as he also lost his master, 7/10.

Second one seems a bit long

'The fourth kind' 2/10.. empty, bad acting, flat story-line. 'A serious man' very good 8/10..solid acting, story-line.

Different title and you must rate the last movie you watched.

    Different title

 you forgot to mention that this thread was also started by a different user, on a different day.

I dunno. Seems pointless to me. I mean I'd rather read if the person liked the film or not. Numbers mean nothing to me.... 7/10? 7 what out of 10? What are the 10 points that are being scored?

    Batman Begins 5/5

For a number of reasons. For one it brought the franchise back from the brink. The acting is quality. The story is quality, what makes this so evident is the fact that the villains aren't who you would deem Batman's most compelling foes. Scene after scene is so memorable. Falcone and Bruce's verbal joust at the start. The final scene with Batman and Gordon. The numerous and touching interactions between Alfred and Bruce. The narrows. The chase to save Rachel. It's just awesome. I never get tired of it.

    Poor post. Not worth rating

I think L31mr0d's point is that ratings on a public forum are a little pointless. Case in point, my ability to do this:

The Hot Chick 10/10 "Animal film!"

    and

Goodfellas 1/10 "There wasn't even any bleedin pizza in it!"

The "What Have You..." thread works a little better in this situation because we post what we liked and why about a film and like minded people can pick up a film of interest to them.

Personally though none of it bothers me a bit! :D

Zombieland - Sweet Metallica at the beginning of the movie and a name for my first son (Tallahassee). 8/10

Shutter Island - 8.25/10 (really recommend watching!) Reviewed it here ...If it had more amiable editing and a rockin' score it'd get closer to a 9!

American Movie - 8/10. Documentary about a failing indy filmmaker. Enjoyable but a bit too sad for my liking. There's too much adversity in his life (I imagine it's very true-to-life) but that actually made me take a break and come back to it. I reckon after a few watches, everything becomes a quote -of which there's many!-, and it'd get closer to a 9 as well.

Kudos to those of you who bothered to write a bit about the actual films, but this list thread must go.
