Anybody know where I can purchase a new battery for my Dell Inspirion 1525 Laptop.

To purchase a battery from Dell online is way too expensive.

What about Ebay? Good or bad

    Has anybody any ideas?

Bought one for a 1525 on ebay and it was fine. It was from HK but had all the proper labels, was still probably a fake.

However, you would want to be sure your battery is actually gone, in my case the original battery turned out to be fine, it was the laptops charging circuit was screwed (Coming up with "Plugged in, not charging" the whole time). This is a very common problem with these laptops and a new battery won't help..

i got a new battery from Deal Extreme last week worked fine but wont charge now.

is there a fix for the charge circuit?
i only use the lappy for tinternet . so not essential,
but would be nice to be able to take it outside in the summer.

Ended up buying a new battery on EBAY for €27 with free postage and packaging from Hong Kong, China.

That message can come up for a number of reasons, in the case of the 1525 it's a faulty charging circuit (which is a slot in card on the mainboard).

In your case there's a good chance it's the charger, they have a tendency to stop working and cause batteries to stop charging, best bet is to try someone else's charger.

If you still have a problem then either the new battery is screwed or you have a problem with the mainboard.. hardly worth reparing on a laptop that old.

Do you have a link for us duckysauce ?
Its always a good idea to use a 'laptop' on a hard surface, or at least, making sure ventilation/fan is unobstructed. They do get hot, and some have been known to catch on fire
