Insulating Precast Roof

    Hi,

Just wondering how to go about insulating a precast(may end up being prestressed or wideslab whichever is stronger) roof.
    It's an external roof on a boilerhouse/store/workroom
I'd prefer to insulate(outsulation i suppose) on the outside so as not to lose headroom.
But it will be a green roof so maybe this isn't an option.
From my (unqualified) thoughts though after waterproofing then lay insulation(PIR) then screed, gravel, sand and soil the weight might be too much??

Other considerations are that to complicate matters there will have to be some openings in the roof for ventilation/flue etc.

If anyone had any advice I'd be grateful.

    Thanks,

    C.

Warm roof construction is the way to go, but personally I would be applying the torch on roofing membrane over the insulation (to falls). top hats can be utilised for penetrations.
You will need an edge detail for perimeters.
You will need specialist detailing, better talk direct to a supplier as there are particular membranes involved.
There is a company in Maynooth Business Park that I dealt with before re these type of roofs, name escapes me at the mo.....

Colas in Maynooth can source this I believe.
