How much is it to get one of these fitted?

Does an immobiliser have an alarm built in??

My friends presses a button and a fob, that immobilises the car and is an alarm... would this be all in one or two separate things?

Don't mean to sound like a thicko :o

What type of car have you? All EU spec cars, sold in the last 10 years at least, have a factory fitted immobiliser that is better then most you can buy. Bypassing it to fit an after market alarm/immobiliser isn't advisable.

You can get alarms with or without immobilisers. If your car is a newish bog standard car then all you need is an alarm that makes noise when someone breaks in. These can be configured to lock your doors also depending on how much you pay.

If you have a heavily modified car or something special then you can spend any amount on alarms, trackers, kill switches etc.

The problem now is that as the scum know they need the keys to get cars they break into your house, so all your alarms are defeated. People have differing opinions on where to leave the keys. I say leave them somewhere out of reach of the letter box and not on view from the windows. But leave them visible inside the house as it's only a car and I don't think anyone would like to be woken up by a scumbag with a boiling kettle over their head.
