    From today's Indo

    http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/exfinance-minister-to-become-anglo-chairman-2097510.html

See the golden circle found a way of making sure Anglo will NOT be wound up if their was a change of government by appointing an ex-FG minister and leader as chairman.

This is a cute move by FF to protect Anglo's secrets in the event of them loosing the next election and FG getting power. The golden circle strikes again and Anglo will bleed money from all our pockets indefinely!

Their has been no disclosure of the real goings on in the banks only figures, ghost estates, excess commercial property etc

All we have is the mess with no answer or anyone in jail.

Closing Anglo and fully opening up its data centre for all to see would be a nice start!

A shame FG have not got the stomach for it!

Alan Dukes hasnt made any secret of his preference to stay in the private sector to make money in preference to a return to politics nor has has he hesitated to rubbish FG's alternative proposals to NAMA. So I am not sure that FG would be surprised at this announcement. Dukes is more of an asset to FF than to FG at this stage.

He is still an ex-leader of FG and I cannot see Anglo ever being closed by FG while he in in charge, like Garett Fitzgerald he is widely respected in the party.

He was previously well respected by me, but not since he sided with the cesspit. He has lost all credibility with me since early last year when I heard him at some bank hearing or other defending the indefensible.

Fitzgerald, on the other hand, continues to talk sense (even while on Vincent Browne the other night with a broken collarbone, where he made Martin If you disagree I'll say 'But, but, but, but" increasingly louder until no-one can hear you Manseragh seem like a real bully and incompetent).

No comparison between Dukes and Fitzgerald in my book.

    Was a crime committed?

It isn't illegal to run your business into the ground.

It's surely illegal to doctor the books and deliberately hide directors loans from shareholders for 8 years, though ?

The money was only resting in his account. All 106 million or so!

Don't know, I'm not an expert or indeed have any knowledge of company law. What I thought was the poster was implying that anglo bankers should be punished criminally for their bad business decisions.

I'm pretty sure it isn't resting there now!

Well, if you run a company into the ground, I would assume you could potentially be done for negligence by the shareholders.....

But from the stories that have emerged from the cesspit, there was a lot worse than just negligence going on.

Maybe Dukes' stint on Feirm Factor will come in handy as he digs his way through the manure.....but TBH his credibility is shot through....I heard him on Matt Cooper earlier and he really doesn't have a leg to stand on in terms of building up the Anglo brand again.

The other banks weren't anywhere near as bad as Anglo, and I'm wary of dealing with them.....and I have to laugh when I see ads for stuff like "AIB's Better Ireland Award".......yup, Ireland would be a LOT better except for having to bail those guys out TWICE.

Your business ? Anglo is a publicly quoted company - I am afraid the directors dont/didnt actually own the company.
