    Fresh off it's Oscar success!

Superb film.. truly deserved it's 'Best Picture' win (among others) at The Oscars in my opinion!

    Buy it @ Sendit
Based on the personal wartime experiences of journalist Mark Boal (who adapted his experiences with a bomb squad into a fact-based, yet fictional story), director Kathryn Bigelow's Iraq War-set action thriller THE HURT LOCKER presents the conflict in the Middle East from the perspective of those who witnessed the fighting firsthand -- the soldiers. As an elite Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team tactfully navigates the streets of present-day Iraq, they face the constant threat of death from incoming bombs and sharp-shooting snipers. In Baghdad, roadside bombs are a common danger. The Army is working to make the city a safer place for Americans and Iraqis, so when it comes to dismantling IEDs (improvised explosive devices) the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) crew is always on their game. But protecting the public isn't easy when there's no margin of error, and every second spend dismantling a bomb is another second spent flirting with death. Now, as three fearless bomb technicians take on the most dangerous job in Baghdad, it's only a matter of time before one of them gets sent to 'the hurt locker'. Jeremy Renner, Guy Pearce, and Ralph Finnes star.

Actually,HMV Limerick are doing a great special this week.

Battelfield Company 2 along with the Hurt Locker on Bluray for 51 euro.
Considering the game retails from anywhere from 45 - 55 euro that is a great price.

While not as action intensive as Black Hawk Down, it's a lot more intense and has you wondering if one of the bombs will blow up. Very worthwhile addition to anyones blu Ray collection

The worst film to ever win an oscar, don't waste your money.

I suspect any real event war film to be somewhat realistic.

    Meh..
Henry Engelhardt, an adjutant with the National Explosive Ordnance Disposal Association and a man with 20 years of experience in bomb defusal, praised the film's atmosphere and depiction of the difficulties of the job, saying, "Of course, no film is realistic in all its details, but the important things were done very well."

Anyways, this ain't the Film Forum.

    It's a great price nonetheless!

I wonder how much they paid ole Harry, I like the way he brushes over the point. Here is a proper article on the joke of a film.

Anyway just shows what crap the oscars have become when that other tripe Avator wins something.

Anyway it should have went to the Basterds.

He didn't say it was! We all know she only won it because she was a woman. How it won most orginal screenplay over the Cohen's I'll never know.

    Bombs blowing up? - Check.
People disarming bombs for a living? - Check.
Americans saving the world? - Check.

Now you tell me what's not realistic about that?! ;)

    Edit: Excellent review here

I can't remember Kathryn Bigelow saying it was based on real-life events either.. it's a dramatization!

Anyways, I'm not getting into it. This isn't the place for it!

Great film and great price I picked it up a few weeks ago in the 2 for 30 deal in HMV. The only thing that let this blu-ray release down is it doesn't have the director & writer commentary that the US version has. Also I can see another release of this with a lot more extras to take advantage of the Acadamy Awards win.

P.S. Rasta must have bet heavy on Avatar winning to be so bitter about The Hurt Locker ;)

I'm bitter because it's a pile of ****e! My god that scene when they have some sniper shootout for 6 hours whilst somehow managing to almost die of dehdration or some crap.

Just call in air support ffs.
