OFCH Water Heating but not Radiators

    Hi

I had the plumber out twice over the cold snap so hoping to avoid ringing him again.

The last two days, the water is heating fine as normal but the radiators not at all - although one feels nearly lukewarm sometimes (bathroom). I've gone around the house bleeding them and still no joy.

I've had a good look at all the pipes in the attic and they don't seem to be leaking or appear to be frozen although they do feel cold.

Any ideas why this could be happening?

If you've gravity DHW with pumped radiators your pump could be going bad. Otherwise it's probably a dead motorized valve... does the boiler run when the radiators are turned on at the clock?

agree with last poster motorised valve problem.check hotpress there is an overide switch on top just slide it over and hook it in.also see if thermostat on wall is turned up .is there an orange light on motorised valve.cheers

Poor circulation. By sounds of things your boiler is ok due to being able to heat water (cylinder coil) and not locking out. Find out how your radiator heating system is piped, if primary flow and return go to hotpress serving hot water and heating individually then trace primary pipes in hotpress to figure out where you have a problem. Could be a number of reasons, room stats? MV's? additional circulation pumps? pipe work from hot press to rads air locked? low pressure inside heating system?

I'm thinking it might be pump alright.... Looks like might be ringing Mr. Plumber after all. Thanks so much for replies

check the pump yourself first , you might be able to save yourself a few quid , and its pretty simple to do , dont worry your not going to flood the place ,
ensure your heating is on and all stats turned up,
when looking at the pump you will see a large screw in the face of the pump undo this screw , removing it completley , using a flathead screwdriver , now insert a flathead screwdriver into the impeller of the pump to make sure its not seized you should feel it spinning ,
if its not try turning it with the screwdriver ,
also make sure you have power at it . good luck
