I am married over a year now and can't believe that I never really examined my rings until now. My engagement ring is platinum and has a stamp which shows PLAT which according to some research ive done on the net is correct. However my wedding ring which is also platinum does not appear to have a stamp, not one to show it is platinum anyway, it does have 3 tiny little stamps in a row, so small that i can't make out what they are. Does anyone know about the different kind of stamps that can be on platinum rings? Im wondering should I bring it to another jewellers to verify that it is platinum.

Heya, might be unrelated but I was getting my wedding ring made to fit my engagement ring there about six months ago and the lady just happened to say that up until recently Platinum had no, I don't know what to call it, quality number? Hallmark? IE: Gold is 925 and silver is 525.
But apparantly there will be a number given to Platinum and it was to be made mandatory from Jan 1st 2010.
She was telling me how lucky I was to be ordering platinum when I did as after Jan 1st the price was gonna shoot up because of the numbers to be stamped. Just looked at my ring there and mine has the little stamp things and a teeny number which I can't see bar the number 9.
Just an idea but yr wedding ring was probably stamped like it was to get ready for this change over.
