Laptop question

I noticed this evening that one of the corners of our couch was sitting on top of the wire that connects my laptop to the adaptor.

Bacically as the plug socket is too long to reach from where my laptop sits I have it plugged in to an extension lead an have it then running behind the couch to where I am.

That piece of wire in question now feel kinda flat but it is a rather thin piece anyway. Everything seems to be going fine....

So the question is would it be a hazard to the laptop or anything the couch on top of the wire?
