Does anyone know how much players get paid to play in Japan?

    For example this week:
    Ellison confirms Japan move
Hurricanes utility back Tamati Ellison will move to a Japanese club at the end of the Super 14.
According to The Dominion Post, the 26-year-old Ellison has been offered a lucrative amount by an undisclosed club. Ellison has decided to put his family ahead of his World Cup ambitions, and will move to Japan before the New Zealand domestic competition.

Why would this guy go to Japan when I presume he could get more money over this side.Obviously Japan is closer for him but I dont really understand how they can attract players at all.

As far as I'm aware the Japanese clubs are largely business entities with a presence in Japan.

Japanese clubs are owned by businesses. It's even in their names.

Examples are Toshiba and Coca-Cola. They'd be able to pay big bucks for players that would wish to move there.

George Gregan and Stephen Larkham are playing in Japan at the moment as far as I'm aware.

Din Caaaaahter makes less than a quarter of what BOD or ROG would be paid by the IRFU iirc.

Pretty much anywhere in the world can pay better than New Zealand.
