    http://live.spvod.com/live/20103/spvod20216_1.htm

Quow pulls up injured 100m in his heat looked to be carrying an injury rather than pulling a hamstring or something. One of Gillicks main rivals for the gold. Good news for him.

Gillick wins his heat in 46.72. Good start as lead from start to finish looking at relative ease

Gregan 3rd in 47.26 meaning he is in 4th fastest loser spot and does not qualify

He did but that was one race the this was his second fastest time of the season( and as far as i know in his life). From the gun he was isolated chasing down the Jamaican and American (closing nearly 5m in the second lap) so he was pretty much in no mans land.Besides Gregan is more suited to the outdoor he will do damage come the summer. Euro's will be interesting for him

big dave mac i thought did ok..he beat the swede who is a good runner..with a first lap in 57 it was always going to be hard for him

    2 6 89 Jakub Holuša CZE 1:50.64 Q .
    3 3 206 Mario Scapini ITA 1:50.74 .
    4 2 200 David McCarthy IRL 1:51.88 (SB)

Gillick looked good, took the race by the scruff of the neck, controlled it. Gregan was close enough, a sluggish first 200 probably cost him but thats all part of the learning curve. To be a top 400 runner you need to be a good 200 man.

Is it true that Gilick had to run around a pole vault when coming down the finish? something about it sticking onto the track

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,762 ✭✭✭✭ecoli

Deidre Byrne ran 8.58.94 for a new PB but was only enough to get her 10th as the first 8 from the race progress with the fast pace

I watched the race on Setanta this morning and I didn't spot it at the time but Gillick mentioned it in an interview later with Greg Allen.

anyone know why the 'ASICS' logo is being covered up on all the vests?? gillick had his covered with yellow tape and dave mccarthy the same with red tape...anyone want to venture a guess as to why?

Galligan eliminated baring a slow second heat of the 1500m.67 second lap instigated by her seemed to burn her off.Dissapointing,i like her as a runner.

I noticed the asics logo on her vest.

IAAF error. The callroom said they breached regulations as regards size. On investigation and harrassing after the event it was found they didn't so a booboo by the IAAF. Sometimes redtape and regulations from IAAF don't make it easy especially when not enforced correctly!

Whats the thoughts on Gillick? Is it down to him and Jackson. There are 4 of them in the 45s and Gillick has beaten one already this year. Will be a cracker I'd say and the SF will tell more as he has Jackson outside him.

From watching the heats this morning i have to say that Jackson look very comfortable and it will be up to Gillick to put it up to him but i feel that he has the capibilities to do so has all the makings of a great semi and a cracking final

Yep should be great, can't wait for the Semi later today.

Missed most of today's action, but I don't think there was any huge shock from an Irish perspective.

Gillick cruised as hoped, and hopefully will do the same in semi. Good to see Byrne sub-9, but just goes to show how competitive the event is when that gets tenth. While I'm sorry Gregan won't get the chance to have another race...actually...he has the relay, so scratch that. I'm delighted he's getting this experience heading into the outdoors, meaning the Euros shouldn't faze him.

Dissapointed with Ryan. I wish she would stabilse in the 1.90m-.92m range and stop yo-yo'ing down to mid 1.80's.

Clare brady ran 7.43. She's in teh 1st fastest qualifier spot as it stands - long as she doesn't get shunted into 5th.

    Brady through to semi-final.

Good to see Brady through, hopefully get a pb in her semi, she wont make the final. Hopefully Gillick will get through without expending too much energy

Did anyone else's heart jump into their mouth at 200m?

    But he's through...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 307 ✭✭TrackFan123

Gillick through in second. Went a bit too slow first 200, made a very powerful burst at the break though but got caught right behind Bershawn and had to almost stop his stride. Then he hard to run flat out last 200.

Even though Jackson was easing down, Gillick is looking strong. He can win this!

Yep scared the crap out of me, but he didnt leave anything to chance over the last 200m. Should be a great final.
