I'm hoping to move in soon to my new house , I need an integrated Tall Fridge , int. Dishwasher , a non integrated tall freezer , washing machine , and tumbler dryer , and a 5 ring Gas Hob .

I haven't a clue what to buy , or what to look out for , can anyone help ? I can wander around DID etc , but the numbers mean nothing to me . I'm looking for value , but at the same time I'd prefer to spend a hundred euro more on a good item that'll last and be efficient , than a cheapo one .

Avoid Beko and Belling, thats what a sales chap in Power City told me.Very cheaply made and not that reliable.

Couldnt believe that the sales guy said that to me.

he said that zanussi are good and bosch are better than zanussi. Both at a reasonable price though.

Poor advice on belling. Its a great brand. Thats why I am reluctant to get rid of my cooker. Beko is a cheap brand but buying a washing machine for 200 euro with a 1000 spin is not bad.

I would not buy ANYTHING hotpoint creda or indesit. Shoite is not the word.

older belling are a great machine -new ones are buckets of crap

beko have come on a lot but the electronic board (module) blow way to easy 200 euro , if you get 2 years out of it ,just replace it -they used to be known as the 13 month machine ,cause 1 month out of gaurantee and there would be problems

I will go with that so.... my father had a belling format for 15 years... It was like something out of the space race

So if its poor advice, according to you, then why would the sales guy tell me not to buy belling then??

1 minute you reply to my post and say that i got poor advice and you say that belling is great.
Next minute you agree with another poster that newer belling it not reliable/bucket of crap

Make your mind up for god sake.

P.S-last time I looked in Power City (2 days ago) they were selling up to the date/modern Belling, and the sales guy told me they were unreliable and poorly made.So the sales guy would be right and honest in what he told me.

I am in a similar situation to yours in that I am in the process of getting a fridge freezer and a hob. My short answer is, so much for that much is the fact which is discounted by a sheer lucky dip effect!

For home appliances, I have always gone for German brands and most are up to my expectations. My Bosch fridge freezer is however to be replaced too soon whilst my Bosch washing machine has been perfect. There may be other brands that should have a better recognition, but I have a basic rule to take the manufacturer's history into account (For example, Bosch and Siemens were founded to produce heavy industry and vehicle-electronics products, some of whose technologies were transferred to design consumer products).

No matter what the brochure or the salesman says, it is about the virtually equal chance of getting a faulty item, it is sad to have to say that though, because, in the current economic trend, products are made up of parts produced in a low-cost supply chain which pay little attention to 'decent' quality that we had enjoyed and used to be able to assume in proportion to your outlay.

What I have learnt so far is that it is a good idea to scrutinise myself to find out on manufacturer websites which features are the must-have and which ones are fancy features that cost you more. It is always a good idea to compare actual products in shops that will give you some indications or pointers to decide which ones to buy or not. One of my rules of thumb is if a mechanical part does not look reliable, stay away from it.

I hope this will be of some help to you.

Hi People, iv been managing an electrical shop for 8 yrs now, we do not sell BEKO FLAVEL or any of the cheaper brands as they are all of inferior quality. Once something goes wrong its a nightmare to get sorted.

We have also stopped selling Zanussi and Electrolux because we had similar problems with them, service department is USELESS.

We sell, candy hoover, indesit hotpoint and have to say the service with these products is outstanding.
Im here 8 yrs and no problems with them at all, but no matter what u buy you can always be unlucky enough to get a faulty appliance, no matter what brand and how much you pay for it.
But in general you get what you pay for, im building later this yr and I will be buying hotpoint appliances as Iv had them in my current house 5 yrs and no probs with any of them.

i have replaced my washing machine this yr, as it gets a lot of use and abuse, 4-5 yrs is average life span anyway.

    hope this helps

Thats funny , I spoke to a few people (who knew I wan't buying from them) and they reckon the Beko stuff is ok , well priced , and reasonable to deal with in the event of a problem .

I would prefer Bosch or Miele everything , but I simply can't afford it . Looks like it'll be a Beko Tumble dryer anyway as I won't be using it much .

    Hi Aidan,

i would go for the beko dryer, IMO dryers rarely give trouble so you should be fine with that, although i would go for a different brand in a washing machine, as they get a lot more use and do a lot more work than people actually realise,

Hey go for what you can afford ya could be lucky and have no problems with any of you appliances.

    happy shopping

Ok, Well I have a Flavel fridge freezer for the last 4 years and I've never had a days trouble from it.

Have an indesit washing machine for the same time and its broken down once. Went back to the shop, called a repair man, repaired and just had to pay for the parts (I think it was about 2.5 years old at the time, a valve went) labour was covered

Was looking for a condenser dryer and priced an indesit and a beko. Incidentally they looked exactly the same only different brand names, with the indesit being €150 being more expensive. Anyway bought the beko dryer about 1 year ago and not a days trouble since.

Fitting a new kitchen and I've bought a Finlux integrated oven & Hob, I will be buying an integrated beko dishwasher.

To be honest, cheap brands or not, they all have warranties and they all tend to be made in the same places. I don't think it matters. If its rubbish, the net would be full of people moaning. Just depends on the individual unit that you buy imo
My parents have a zanussi dishwasher for the last 15 years that has only ever needed one switch replacing.... still going strong
