For those that are continually moaning about the lack of development of the game in Connacht, the Junior cup pairing between Calasanctius college and Rice college certainly shows quite the opposite with the Oranmore side aiming to defend its victory in the Cup last year and the Westport side showing great gains to make it through to the final. Although they battled from start to finish, Rice college failed to put enough points on the board even with a very threatening back line while the Oranmore side dominated from the very beginning going over for their first try early in the game.

The Senior cup was a much closer affair and while Sligo certainly got their revenge for last year and deserved their victory, the scoreline flattered them. Jes fought a gallant fight and there were some excellent performances but Grammar were very hungry and up for the game right from the start although they were very cynical with 3 sin binnings in the game.
