Does anyone have any experience with the Dell Vostro V13?

Are there any issues with it overheating given everything is packed into such a tiny space?

Also, what are the Core 2 Duo SU7300 chips like?

I'm not up-to-date with processor technology, but is 1.3GHz not very slow, even at dual core?

The setup I'm looking at also comes with 4gb of ram.

No idea on that particular model, it's relatively new. Sis owns a 1320, mate owns a 1000 and I own a 1700 though so I've experience enough with the range. The chassis and build quality on them wouldn't be fantastic, but having said that they do the job more than adequately. Mine does get a wee bit hot though. All Vostro's in my experience are cheap and cheerful, bit rough around the edges but do exactly what's on the tin.

Not sure on the ultra low voltage processors either, I think they are simply an underclocked core 2 duo. Performance would be grand for casual browsing and general office work, but you'd want something more powerful if you're doing any processor intensive tasks.

The v13 really is an interesting looking lappy, was having a look at the dell site there a week back and i was intrigued by it. I've heard they're a bit weird to have on your laptop, just because of the way it's designed.

The ULV processors are designed for battery life and low TDP rather than performance. They have a TDP of something like 5W or 10W, compared to the 25-35W of your average Core2Duo.

It means they run very cool, and use very little power. They are certainly useable for basic everyday computing. But if you want something fast, look elsewhere.
