A pair of wood ducks have taken up residence on a pond close to me, having done a bit of a search on the net I find that they are an American species but it seems probable that they are escapees from captivity and are reasonably common around about (not sure about that though), just wondering if it's likely that they would stick around and breed?

Quite a number of feral Wood Duck in the country.

Duck will cross breed freeely and Wood Duck often cross with Mallard.
