Might be a stupid question, but.....
Is it okay to only change your only your back tyres if the front ones are in reasonable condition? Or should you really change all 4 in one go?

No problem changing two - try stick to the same tyres though.

Front tyres wear faster then back ones, so I would put the two front wheels on the rear of car and fit the new tyres on front.

Theres no harm in changing only two - as long as its by axle and not one front and one rear.

Its also generally accepted to have the better tyres to the front of the car if its FWD, and to the rear if its RWD.

OP, put the new tyres on the rear.

I dont know. I would rather the better grip on the front tyres for braking. I would rather lose the back than understeer straight for the wall. The oversteer can be corrected easier especially when if you are used to driving rwd. Obviously you would want good tyres on the rear also with rwd.

Well then, I stand corrected! Up until very recently this has been the attitude of most tyre centres in Ireland.

Still is the attitude of most tyre places. it is wrong and hads been for a long time. It goes back to the days when radial tyres were a new thing and cross plys were being phased out.
    Not exactly yesterday;)
