Hi hope anyone can help me out here.

Myself and my bf are both on the JA making 150 per week each.

its my bfs house and my name isnt on the mortgage. weve been to the hse to try and get the Mortgage interest relief but they keep rejecting us.

my question is can I claim for rent allowance cause technically im a tenant or will they have a problem with that. were finding it very hard to make ends meet on 300 euro a week .

    Can anyone help please

you are his girlfriend, his partner, dont think so, now if he were renting rooms out to people other than partner or wife, then they would get rent allowance. dont think if you went and said you are his partner you would get assistance.

Unfortunately your in a tricky situation. Your partner could claim Mortgage interest relief but its a complicated process. I'm in a similar position (thankfully i had Mortgage payment protection insurance), however my girlfriend as my partner is unable to claim rent allowance, in fact she only gets €135 per week as she is considered to be a dependent adult. I am curious that you are both getting €150 JSA, i assumed your situation would be similar to mine, Me €195 and the better half €135?

Another option is renting rooms as your partner could do this without affecting his claim and its tax free.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.
