    Folks

Did anybody see an article in yesterdays mail on sunday....I heard about it today but didnt see it (yet!). It apparently eluded to a midlands trainer acting the goat (they wouldnt name that person for legal reasons and I suspect mods wont want people guessing it on here either,so please dont). Basically this trainer was sending out lesser horses under different names. For example, sending out a horse rated 80 when it was supposed to be a horse rated 110, you get the jist!

    Anybody see this?

No didnt see this. I'm sure you can mention the name if it was mentoned in the paper?

i.e. you are not starting this rumour,...... are you?

I'd find that very hard to believe. All the animals are microchipped these days - the day of the ringer is long gone.

Did you read the post:confused: They didnt mention the trainer for legal reasons.

I posted this as I wanted to know if anybody else saw the article as I have only heard it 2nd hand. I'm trying to get my hands on the paper to read it for myself.

very hard to read most of the microchips ,the vet on course rely's mostly on the passport - when the chips are implanted the move under the skin ,some inward some back and forth -we were selected for a check once and they couldnt read it ,plus horses markings on passport had changed with age and hadnt been updated -still allowed to run could have been a ringer -

happens more han you think trainers bringing the wrong horse by "mistake"

    check this out

Jim Goggins - “Knockhill Tess” - Identity Query
Golden Vale Point to Point, 25th October, 2009.
The Referrals Committee, Mr. John Powell (in the Chair), Mrs. J.O. Onions and Mrs. T.K. Cooper, met at the Turf Club Offices, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Thursday, 28th January, 2010, to consider a referral from the Registrar of the I.N.H.S. Committee concerning the identification of “Knockhill Tess” which was due to run at the above Point to Point, but was withdrawn by the Acting Stewards as the Veterinary Officer on duty was unable to positively identify the animal from the passport documentation presented. Evidence was heard from Mr. Jim Goggins, Owner, together with a DNA report from Weatherbys Ireland Laboratory.

    - The Committee, having considered the evidence, noted that the animal produced to run as “Knockhill Tess” at Golden Vale on 25th October, 2009, was in fact an unnamed bay mare 2004 by Bob’s Return - Strong Watch. They were satisfied that Mr. Goggins had confused the identity of both horses and was guilty of an error of judgement and ordered him to pay the various costs incurred. They also ordered that the name currently registered to “Knockhill Tess” bay mare 2004 by Lord Americo - Ancient Charm is cancelled. The Committee disqualified the mare in the races listed below:-

    - Muskerry (F) Aghabullogue on 11th January, 2009, Maiden race for 5 & 6-y-o Mares.
Duhallow (F) Liscarroll on 29th March, 2009, Maiden Race for 5-y-o Mares.
Waterford (F) on 12th April, 2009, Maiden Race for 5-y-o Mares.
Carbery (F) on 24th May, 2009, Maiden Race for 5-y-o Mares.

    - The unnamed bay mare by Bob’s Return - Strong Watch should have an accompanying reference for registration purposes stating that it ran on four occasions under the assumed name of “Knockhill Tess”.

I was actually referring to the initial post regarding the article in the Sunday paper and reminding people not to speculate and name individuals. I wasn't actually targeting your post. The link to the Turf Club page is fine.
