Getting rid of old car

Have a 98 Escort, pressure plate went in the clutch last week. Decided not to bother repairing as it will cost 500 euro. Already spent 500 euro before christmas for head gasket and water pump and it has 112,000 miles on it. Original battery in bad condition. So bought a corolla at the weekend. Saw these ads in the buy and sell, saying "we tow old cars away, CASH WAITING, CASH WAITING".

Does anyone have any experiences with crowds like these? would I expect much for the car (even 50 euro would be better than nothing!)?

Stick it up on Adverts.ie with a price of 50 euros then.
Free and someone is bound to take it.

Well I know first hand that a scrap yard near me will give around €80
and that was after stripping out everything when we got there

I'd say advertise it as spares or repair for around €200
see what happens, still a good few Escorts around
very easy car to work on, even more so the 1.6/1.8 Zetecs

even the original cassette radios sell for up to £50.00 on ebay

They're a great car them Escort's, it would be a shame to throw it away, especially given you already got the head gasket repaired.

It is a great car (my first car), didn't have that many probs with it, parts were cheap and it was relatively easy to make repairs yourself (not knowing anything about cars previously). Just that I do about 300 miles/ wk, so I really needed a car with low milage, picked up a 00 corrolla with 50,000 on the clock for 2700 euro.
