Is Milan worth a visit?

I'm starting to plan my holidays, the only certainty is I'm visiting friends in Finland but I usually like to take in more than one country on each trip in my attempt to visit every country in the EU.

I had wanted to go to Estonia and finish off that region of Europe (been to Latvia and Lithuania) but there's no direct flight with Ryan air or Aerlingus, so I started looking at places I can fly to Finland from. With Ryanair I could go to Milan and fly onto Finland but is Milan worth the visit? I'm not into fashion at all and that's all I know about Milan, it's known for fashion.

I could fly to Riga and try and get a bus or train up to Estonia and then a ferry onto Finland which does sound appealing as long as the bus/train isn't overcrowded and uncomfortable, has anyone done that trip?

I've been to Sweden as well so I don't want to go that way, Haven't been to Poland yet but again there was a lack of flights from there to Finland make it unlikely.

yeah milan is worth a visit, stuff like Sforzesco Castle and surrounding garden/public park, majestic milan cathedral and Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie where they keep the last supper are well worth seeing in person

easy to get tickets to the san siro if football is your thing, good bars/clubs and within easy reach of lake como which by itself is worth a day or two (about 45 mins by train).

ryanair fly into bergamo which is about a 45 bus ride from milan, if you have time check out bergamo, its a beautiful town

It would be cool to see the last supper.

Milan sounds cool so, I think that may be my decision made, Maranello isn't to far away either could go see the Ferrari factory.

I was in Milan last September for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I was only there for 3 nights and it was so warm, me and my mate didn't really bother doing a lot of sightseeing. I was more into the F1 to be honest.

I'd like to go again this September, but if I do, I will go for 5 nights. However again that's purely for F1 reasons. There were some extra things on at the circuit that I didn't get to see as we only arrived on the Friday the last time.

Plus the women are just incredible!

Estonian Air (http://www.estonian-air.ee) offer non-stop flights from Dublin to Tallinn in the Summer, so you can go direct to Estonia! They don't do direct flights every day of the week though, and don't appear to be a low-cost airline (they're owned by SAS) but they have a free 20kg luggage allowance and free snacks and drinks on the plane, so you might want to give them a go :)

No, not really, I lived there for 2 months and ran out of things to do outside of football in a weekend. If you have plenty of money you'll have a great time but if not you need to make friends with people who know the city

I always do holidays on the cheap, I was worried Milan may be expensive. I was thinking of renting a car and driving down to Ferrari town it would probably be a good way to see some of the country and maybe keep things cheap because I'd be on the road allot.
