Ford Fiesta - OK deal?

My sister has been in to see this Ford Fiesta.

They are dropping the price down to 3,950. That includes a 6 month full warranty and guaranteeing the NCT in September. As the tax is out, they will pay for 3 months (which is about 95 euro).

That still leaves it at the higher end of the price range, but a full warranty might make up for that? They are absolutely not moving any more on the price.

    Any thoughts?

PS - she tried a 1.25 version, but far prefers the 1.4 which seems to narrow the market a little.

Personally, i think its over priced. youd pick up a grand 03 Ford focus, for the same privately if you looked about. better long term car for her!. tell her not to panic, take a breather on it, theyll drop it fast enough. If it was me, id look nationally.
for e.g. just did a quick search....and ud get better out there

That's a bit steep for an 8 year old Fiesta to be honest

Yeah, I think the price is definitely steep. It's the 6 month full warranty that's swaying her in favour of it.

Tred - thanks for the focus suggestion, she might look at one of them.

She should, and shop about. In fairness to the fiesta, with that low miles, its reliable enough. so its easy for them to give the 6 months on it. Same wiht a low mileage focus. to me, that fiesta is hardly worth 2500 in real money...but these lads need to make a few bob out of it i suppose!

Thats too much. You would get a diesel 1.4hdi for that price, and that is a better car.

Do not put too much faith into "the 6 month full warranty".

+1. When I drive my mam's 04 Fiesta (1.25) it's not a patch on my 00 Focus h/b. The Focus is a better car in every single way. Handling, ride etc. It will be a lot more durable than the Fiesta too. My mam's car has a lot more rattles than my Focus, and it's four years newer and with 50k less on the clock. Loads and loads of Focus' on the used market too.

The warranty isn't really a doubt as her fella's family have bought a couple of cars from them (they're a Ford dealer) and they've always honoured the warranties. It's really just the price that's the issue.

Thanks bazz26, when you discount the 1.25 version, the options definitely seem a bit more limited. That's some difference in price though, and that's before any bargaining...
