What year is the car and does it have a full service history. It has been posted here before that Ford may cover the damage caused by premature belt failure

58k seems very low milage for a ford belt to snap. the interval is 100,000 miles. if your thinking of fixing the car you may consider the condition of the rest of the car such as the length of the nct test, body condition and other stuff. the car is probably only worth a couple of hundred as it is now, especially for a trade in against a new car. 1000 sounds reasonable to get the engine rebulit

Or ten years, whichever comes first.

If i was you id scrap ot im in a somewhat similar situation have a 99 astra and the head gasket is gone in it, been looking around garages for a 2008 car upward and every garage is offering me 1,000 to 2,000 euro for my car knowing the head gasket is gone so im fairly sure you could get the same kinda deal.

If it was a good car(a part from the engine going) i'd be shopping
around for a good second hand engine. €500 or there abouts for an engine
fitted. Ring a round a few indy mechanics see can you get a better price
    than €1000.

Compare the market, simples. Check the value of the car based on millege and engine and year with cbg or carzone etc. They should give you a guide price, just include any servicing that's been done on her if selling.
