    Hi all,

I was watching Traffic Blues on Friday night i think it was.

One incident was a woman driving a starlet (I think). She only had a provisional licence, didn't have a fully licenced driver with her, had !5! kids in the back with no seatbelts and all she got was 2 penalty points and an €80 fine.

I got the exact same thing for being 10km/h over the speed limit. This isn't right!

Hmm .. she shouldn't have been allowed to continue her journey with 5 kids in the back.

All fimed before the major "crackdown" on L drivers. That was probably all the Guard could give. If it is the one I remember, she also tried to reverse against traffic up a slip road.

Indeed, but even back then you would only be insured to drive with 3 people in the back maximum in a starlet.

With 5, 2 people are unrestrained and also pose a risk to the three other passangers.

Some people may be driving partners/sons/daughters/etc car and not bother remove the sticker.

I get your point though, most L drivers I know are out on their own the whole time.

Yes, she did try to reverse and go up a slip road and she was allowed carry on afterwards.

Thing is, it wasn't even a checkpoint! She just drew attention to herself because a lorry beeped at her for pulling such a stunt.

Someone said it was filmed before the L crackdown....how the hell did it take so long for them to film it, edit it and broadcast it!?

EDIT: If the same thing happened on Road Wars, the car would be gone from her straight away and she'd get more than 2 penalty points and a fine!

That show really showed up how the law prevents Gardai from actually been able to take dangerous drivers off our roads and seems to be more concerned with just getting money out of drivers.

There were various incidents where the punishment was extremely lenient because the Gardai had/have no powers to dish out proper punishment
