Was just doing some ringing around for house/car insurance for my parents who are retired. They had public liability on their policy. Is this necessary? Do all farmers have this?
Is it still necessary if the land is leased out to another farmer?

Just want to double check as its making a big difference to the premium.

The main reason for public liability is for if your livestock breaks out on the road and causes a crash or damages someones property lawn etc.
or if some muppet comes onto your land hurts themselves and trys to sue you cause the fell of your gate or something.

If they own the land, they should keep the PL.

If a claim arises from the OWNERSHIP as opposed to the OCCUPANCY, they would need the cover.

ie - if a tree fell on a car and others.
