Tyler Hamilton, Stage 16 2003 from Pau to Bayonne won after 142km solo break.

Probably with the help of drugs.

Best I remember was in 1992, Chiappucci to Sestrieres.

Doesn't Bradley Wiggins have some record for longest break away (all be it unsuccesful)?

Poli. Escaped and built a large lead for it to be whittled away on AlpeDuez but managed to hold of the peleton till the finish. Not sure how long.
Also David Millars break into Barcelona last year was a long one but again no idea as to how long he was away before being caught.

Don't know about the TdF, but my garage is seeing some pretty long (time-wise at least) solo rides at present:)

How long was Flyod's? The stage where he pulled back 10 or 15 minutes?

What is it what yanks going on big break aways then testing postive. Landis was high as a kite on his breakaway. Its just common sense that a guy cant die one day then fly the next unless hes taking a little something something.
I remember a big breakaway from a t mobile rider a few yrs back. I think Verinque had one too.
