    Hello all

I'm thinking of heading to Portugal for a couple of weeks in the summer.

It's a long way down - are there any alternatives to driving all the way from Cherbourg/Roscoff? P&O Plymouth to Bilbao is quoting 1300 euros in July, plus the fare for the Irish Sea ..

    Any better ideas, anyone?

2 long days of driving would have you in the North of Spain or North of Portugal as an alternative to a long ferry trip.If you have a few weeks it wouldn't be too bad. Would be cheaper too and you would get to stop of in France for a day or two on the way.

thanks for the links to the Cork story.

I kn ow I could go via France but it's a long haul to do it, specially in both directions.

I'll keep an eye on the Cork thing and maybe get a cheap opening offer. Haha.
