    Heya

Im looking to buy a renault megane coupe 2002. It has 69k miles on it. Its in good nick but it doesnt come with a warranty or nct. Its nct is up in may. Its timing belt was changed a few k ago. Is 3,500 too much to pay for it? I went into the garage and thats what I got them down to. how much do ye think I should pay?

Seems about average though. I'd go back with €3,000 and ask for an assurance that if it fails the NCT in May that they fix ANY issue that comes up(within reason of course) as this would constitute the warranty they would give anyway.

If they refuse then say "if you believe the car is in good working order then it shouldn't be an issue".

Yeah I am not going to pay more than 3k as thats what I was told by them they wud give it to me at 3k but then they changed their mind.

l would'nt buy a car with no warranty and such a short nct from a garage.
getting a good mechanic to check it over is a must if u do go a head and buy it.

I know the previous owner of the car and the garage has the service records. They wanted 4,300 for warranty.

Its not the only Megane Coupe out there. Make them an offer and let them come back to you but go looking for BETTER VALUE elsewhere and tell them that when you walk away.

Indeed, here is one with a 3 month warranty, lower mileage and cheaper:
