Doesn't see to be a match thread

Bit of a breeze and the pitch only looking fair.

Interesting to see how David Moran, David O'Callaghan and Adrian o' Connell get on for Kerry.

Point to Derry from Paddy Bradley free after 2 mins

    Strongish wind in Derry's favour.

Two wides from Derry Still only 1point after 4 mins

    Kerry 4 points
Derry 1-2 points after 15 mins

Kerry forwards looking lively when they get the ball.
    Softish Derry goal nice finish.

    Scorers for Kerry
    Donaghy
    O'Callaghan
    Young
    Donaghy

    Young looking very good.

Would exepect Kerry to win this in the second half with the wind.

Gooch point from free to level it.
Foul on Donaghy who's having a very decent game.

    David O'Callaghan doing ok.
Griffin didn't do well for the Derry goal.

Derry nip ahead from a definite free. Could have been a yellow - either Tom Sull or Reidy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

All Derry threat from the Bradleys.
    Gooch v quiet so far.
Wind conditions making it tricky enough with a fair bit of scrappy play and some mistakes.

Kerry look good going forward , questionable defending, wind could bea factor, its hard to gauge exactly how much from watching on television

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Suicide pass out of defence from Tom Sull to gift Derry a point, lucky it wasn't a goal.

    Cooper point from free.

    1-4 to 6 points

Derry about 7/8 wides which they might come to regret and have had most of the possession due to the wind.

Can be a very tricky wind in Austin Stacks park but definately favouring Derry.

Great point from McGuigan (not sure) to take it to 1-5 to 6 points

    , questionable defending

Full-Back line especially all of Griffin, Reidy and Tom Sull have made mistakes.

As against that Derry have to be a bit disappointed with only 6 scores and possibly 10 wides at this stage.

Ref gives a free to Kerry for Derry player handling on the ground. Pretty harsh decision.

    Derry 1-6
    Kerry 0-6

    Doherty good score from distance.

Kerry very lucky there before half-time.

Ball lost very cheaply with a shockingly bad ball out of defence and Derry had a great chance of a goal.

Great save by Kealy fingertip save to push the ball onto the bar.

    HT
    Derry 1-6
    Kerry 0-6

Overall Kerry lucky to be only 3 points behind - I think Derry have 10 wides(plus a couple of drop short ones into the keepers hands) v Kerry's 1 wide

The Kerry forwards have looked good when they have got the ball but living on scraps really as the ball has been mainly at the other end of the pitch for the majority. Would expect them to pull Kerry back into it in the second half with more possession. Kerry midfield has been iffy and Moran hasn't really impressed either. Only Kerry back having a good game is Young.

Derry looking very reliant on the Bradleys as ever.

    HT

Derry definitely taking their shots from much farther out than Kerry

Seems Kerry would be please with just 3 pts deficit

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Marc o Se on at half-time for Tommy Griffin.
Adrian O'Connell moves to corner back and think it's Tom Sull into the full-back spot. Not 100%.

Great point from Moran from distance after an interception by Killian Young.

    Derry 1-6
    Kerry 0-7

Kerry accuracy from distance should be the difference 2nd half, bookies Kerry 4/6 at HT

Ref pulls Moran for handling ball on ground. Questionable decision to match the one on Derry in the firat half.

    Don't rate O Cnamaha as a ref.

Point from Cooper from distance from free to narrow it to 1.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Point for Derry to take it back to 2 points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Kerry/Moran had a half chance of a goal there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Another point for Derry from a questionable free - Derry lead by 3

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭dartbhoy

Derry could regret all those wides in the 1st half. The ref been overfussy on some fouls on both sides. Good save by the Derry goalie from Donaghy.

Derry keeper makes a good save from Donaghy after Donaghy set himself up from a long wide.

    45 drops short.

Maher coming on for Scanlon who hasn't impressed today.

Another questionable decision from O Cnamaha there to give a free to Kerry.

    Wide from Kerry

Rare mistake from Young with a poor ball.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Gooch appears to have mastered the power of invisibility.
Done nothing in the second half.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Gooch appears to have mastered the power of invisibility.
Done nothing in the second half.

As I posted this he popped up and seemed to have his first touch of the half in play. Dec Sul fouled and Cooper points the free.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Gooch scores another free to narrow it to one.
Free-taking very good today in tricky conditions.

    Leveller from David Moran.

Gooch appears to have mastered the power of invisibility.
Done nothing in the second half.

Seems to be worth his place for shot accuracy alone though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Point from distance by Dec Sull to go ahead.
    12 points to 1-8

    Sheehan on for Darren.

Wide from an ambitous effort from Moran

Kerry on top at the moment.

He's worth it if only for the fear he inspires in defenders:D:D

Only getting back into inter-county today

No repeat of his hatrick against Rathmore for him today:D

Rare break from Derry ends in a free out to Kerry.

Wide from the follow up for Derry.

Wide from O'Callaghan after great fielding by Donaghy.

Very tasty point from Moran on the swivel after great work by Donaghy to win the ball back.

Kieran O'Leary coming on for O'Callaghan.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Free out to Kerry - another questionable one from O Canamha.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Lovely interplay between Donaghy and Gooch to set Donaghy up to take the gap to 3.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Derry narrow it to two from a free by Bradley.

    3mins + injury time left.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

21-yard free and yellow card after Donaghy being held off the ball

Converted to take it to three points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Donaghty TG4 MOTM - was either himself or Killian Young.

Moran puts the ball dead but ttime wasn't up so a 45 to Derry.

Kerry try it again and it's fulltime

Kerry win it and probably deserve it.
The wind a major factor and kinda spoiled things a bit as a game.

Good performance by Moran in the second half.

Good experience by O'Connell and O'Callaghan to get some league time under the belt. Thought Maher did well when he came on.

Standard of refereeing was shocking. Some very bad calls made against both teams and these new rules are causing more confusion to the chaos!

Once the players get used to the rules and they are implemented the same way in ALL matches, most of them should make their way into championship games.
