I'm living on the continent for the past year.I would estimate in my city alone (Berlin) there are about 10,000 Irish people. The source of all knowledge,Wikipedia, puts a figure of 500,000 of Irish and second generation Irish on the continent, that is excluding the UK!Kathy Sheridan seems more concerned with spreading Dublin 4 dinnertable anecdotes of young Fionnachtna going to Australia on a 6 month visa picking fruit and smoking funny things and then going back to Ireland as evidence that emigration is overstated, than reporting fact.I could tell Kathy that most Irish exiles I know have no intention of going back, this is our home, not that Ms Sheridan knows much about Europe apart from going on an overpriced trip to Paris.Interestingly this author has previously described banker/gangster Sean Fitzpatrick as "a decent man" .

Did you actually read the article? It's about emigration figures since the country went belly-up, so your 10,000/500,000 figures are completely irrelevant.
Kathy Sheridan seems more concerned with spreading Dublin 4 dinnertable anecdotes

You really didn't read the article, did you? There are as many reference to the west of Ireland as there are Dublin. Unless Ballaghaderreen has moved to Dublin 4?

    Good for you, you hero!

You seem very familiar with her travel history - do you know her? Is this, you know, personal?
