Refurb rocker cover?

    I want to refurb the aluminium rocker on my car. At present its very pitted and discoloured. I thought a good scrub and rub down with very fine emery paper might bring it back to life, but ideally I'd like to respray it. Whats the best, hard wearing, heat resistant paint to use? Or would this be best left to a professional spray painter to do?
