Hopefully Mick McCarthy will field the reserves again today.:p

Wolves are without Michael Kightly and Dave Edwards. And that's all I can get from Sky text.:o

    For United I'd go with:
    VDS
    Rafael--Vidic--Rio--Evra
    Valencia--Fletcher--Scholes--Nani
    Berba--Diouf

Subs: PiG, Carrick, Brown, Rooney, Park, Neville, Gibson

I'll go with 2-0 to United.

    Venue: Molineux.
    Kick off: 5.30.
    TV Coverage: ESPN, 4.45.

All the talk from Fergie is of him being injured.

So, I fully expect him to play :D

dunno - ManUnited Youth on Twitter was saying yesterday that Rooney did not travel.

Even withot Rooney, United will be too strong. 3-1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,629 ✭✭✭magma69

United 2-1. Expect a spirited performance from Wolves a la the Chelsea game. Wouldn't be surprised if they take the lead but eventually United will break them down in the second half and steal the game in trademark extra time winner fashion. Poxy bastards!!

I thought Rooney was going, but not starting so I put him on the bench. If he didn't travel, Macheda will be there instead, imo.

Kiko isn't back in training so he won't be on the bench today. King played for the U18's this morning so it won't be him either. Berbatov and Diouf are the only strikers available if Rooney didn't travel.

where else is fergie going to be? He does reckon he's still got it, but surely doesn't have the fitness now...

    I'm predicting a below strength Wolves team, resulting in a 4-0 win:pac:

This must be the first time that Vidic and Ferdinand have played together since the Pool game at Anfield.

Amazing to think that they've been without one or the other for the guts of the season.

Says a lot about their squad cover.

We have squad cover, we had a 2nd makeshift backline when our first makeshift backline got crocked too.

They just aren't quite as good (yet) as Vidic and Rio together, as has been proven this year.

I'd doubt it, usually they don't do it 'til about 45 mins before the match no?

And I usually get a text off my friend the minute the team is announced and nothing yet...

    Official Team

    Van der Sar
    Brown
    Ferdinand
    Vidic
    Evra
    Gibson
    Scholes
    Carrick
    Valencia

    Berbatov

Subs: Neville Foster Park Raf Fletch Obertan Diouf.

    ----VDS---
    Brown--Vidic--Rio--Evra
    ---Gibson--Carrick--SCholes
    Valencia
    Nani
    Berba

    Rooney not on bench.

Loving the back 5. Pretty much first choice (maybe O'Shea in RB).

Not that comfortable with Gibson starting but being a 3 man midfield should help us. Valencia and Nani need big games today, relying a lot on them to play off Berbatov.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,837 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Gibson in the middle ahead of Fleatcher is the only position you would really question, but with Milan in midweek (and Carrick suspended) it is the right move from Fergie. Will be interesting to see how Gibson does, cause he is in contention for the game vs Milan.

ESPN guy just said that Rooney wasnt even on the team coach. Odd, I would have thought he would have at least travelled with the team.

Nope, but I was close enough!

Fletch on the bench worries me, but I guess he needs to rest.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Wonder if Fergie will get fined for resting Rooney?;)

Jokes aside could the Wolves first team feel they have something of a point to prove following the previous fixture ?

Id give Rebecca Lowe 5 minutes of that time.

    That's right, we'd have a cuddle afterwards.

Edit: Ah ffs, Chris Waddle. Cockblock. Cant stand him.

I've lost a lot of confidence in Brown this season, he really hasn't been great. O'Shea would definitely be ahead of him in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Berbatov does, being the platform for all attacks for once, this is the kind of situation in which he can really excell.

looks like ManUnitedYouth was on the ball, said yesterday that Rooney had not traveled.

I suppose if there was no chance of him playing, may as well give him the day off, let him rest up.

I agree as a CB he's been rocky but I do now think his best position is RB and I'm happy to have him play there

    CMON UNITED!

Nani and Valencia had to start with Rooney out, need the attacking threat on both sides.

With Fletcher needing to be rested against Milan which is the right move imo, Gibson has a chance to impress. If he plays well today, he'll play against Milan, so he needs to step up.

I must say, I'm happy to see that double winning defence back to work :)

    Rio and Vida

    First time since October 2009

Any match where Fletcher has not been playing in the past year united have struggled.

It's probably a gamble worth taking though against a poor Wolves team.

Rooney being rested or is the knee keeping him out?

48 goals in 78 games for Bulgaria, maybe today we'll see what he can really do!
