Is the i pod touch the same as the i phone apart from not been able to make phone calls (naturally), and i have read on here about jailbreaking and unlocking the i pod touch. Why would you have to unlock them or jailbreak them, the only reason i am asking is if you buy the i pod touch32gb and you have a mobile phone your happy with have'nt you got everthing you need.

Exactly, ipod touch is similar to iPhone, but cannot make phone call, without camera, and without microphone. If you want microphone for voice memo, you can buy from Apple store. Another important thing is that ipod touch cannot connect internet everywhere like iphone. You need to connect internet with wireless modem at home, or free wifi zone.(Based on my experience with 2nd gen. ipod touch)

For jailbraking, I don't have experience about it. As far as I know, it is for installing program and game for free without buying from online App store. I don't do this because there are a lot of free stuffs for you to download. Even you have to pay, it is less that 1 euro for nice games or applications.

For me, ipod touch is perfect cause I am already happy with my mobile and can use internet using my mobile. I use it for listening music and playing game when I walk around. When I am at home, I use it for surfing internet or watching youtube in bed.

Hi. Xandra really has it covered. You really need to have WIFI at home to get the use of the touch. I love mine for it's ability to update Podcasts without having to link up with a computer. I def prefer having a good phone and the touch because I feel that the Iphone (Which is Bulkier and Heavier than a touch) is much too cumbersome to carry around. One drawback is not being able to surf away from the house, but my phone is fine for the basics.

Also unless you live in a good 3g area the Internet capabilities of the iPhone are a bit of a let down plus the battery runs down quickly.
You could get headphones with mic and use skype on your iPod touch fir making calls in free wifi areas and use eirtext to use your webtext allowance to send texts via your iPod touch.
I have an iPhone too but often carry my iPod touch also to share out the battery usage.
