:rolleyes:Hi all, I'm new to all this 'message board' thing! But hoping to find some motivation here. Am trying to get fitter and would love to meet others trying to do the same. I do aerobics twice a week and train in the gym three times but my nutrition is letting me down! I have a sugar addiction!! Tried giving up sweet, chocolate etc.. for lent and broke it after one day!!! Help

Hi Fitness mods, this turned up on our ART logs but it's probably better here.

cant say i have a choco addction, except butlers maybe :)

but i used to have a serious thing for 1.Batter and 2.Ben and Jerrys, now this was a while ago and im 4 stone lighter and more toned now then i was then but i could easily get down a batter sausage and batter burger and fresh cod and a litre of caramel chew chew in one sitting, but what i do to help myself is to keep a mental picture of where i wanna be body wise, ya know-what i want to look like, and with this mental picture comes the realiseation that to look the way i wanna, does not involve batter or ben and jerrys, i have not had either in id say over 6 months, i used to have it as a treat but even stopped that, id look at a batter burger now and think yes it would be nice but stright into my head would be my mental image and i just dont want a batter burger, id rather eat good and look good....so i guess when it comes to you and chocolate, which would you rather, one is a hard tough and sometimes annoying choice with big long term gains, the other is 2 minutes of eating chocolate followed by god know how long of "i really didnt need that", just try it for a week, picture yourself at your most fab and how your gonna get there...in a month chocolate wont be a big deal at all!!!!

I've just run around our local rugby pith 10 times. I'm keeping note of this for myself so I can try and improove on it. I walked the first one to warm up than ran/jogged the next seven without stopping and walked the last two to cool down. Its a double pitch so took me 30 minutes for the 10. Feeling a little stiff now but that could be the gym session yesterday. Would love to hear from anyone who is struggling to get into running like me.:)

Thanks dolliemix. Will adapt it to my level cause I find I can run comfortably enough on a threadmill for 20 minutes but it was going outside that was the real test. must say though it was such a gorgeous day it was lovely to be outside with the blue skies (even if it was chilly) instead of the gym which can get a bit tedious week after week even if you change your training regularly.

In that case you could probably start at week 4 or week 5.

There is a free podcast you can download as well, so you don't even have to check the time when you're running. A beep goes off to tell you when you can stop/ start/ change pace etc. :D

Thanks dolliemix. I'm taking a rest day today. I did aerobics tues and wed., weights thurs and the run yest so will give the old body a break today and do gym again sun. If only I could get my act together with the eating. I sabbotage all this hard training (and I do train very hard!) with bad eating habits. Feel like a bit of a junkie who cant kick a drug habit. Food is as much of an addiction:o

I'm the same! Love my sweet things and nice food.

Only thing that sorts me out is Weight Watchers! I started again two weeks ago because I just fed up of doing all this exercise and still being over weight.

Ha! Just get straight back into it. You can afford to go over the first week anyway I reckon. I went way over my points one of the days last week. So much so I couldn't even count what had gone in my mouth. :D
But the whole thing was such a change for me I still lost 5 pounds! I nearly fell off the scales when she told me....

It definitely works - it's just a matter of getting into a routine. And there's actually quite a few sweet things that can satisfy that sweet tooth craving if you need it on low points.

no sugar jelly is zero points so you can eat as much of that as you want!

Last week I was eating some weight watchers desert - 1 1/2 - 3 points with a half point yogurt and zero point jelly so I wouldn't feel deprived. I was stuffed after!

Thanks so much, I know you are right, thats the thing with women and food, we are all dieticians in our own right but at the same time we have very unhealthy relationships with food. I'm going to get back on it tomorrow. I'm going on holidays in 8 weeks time so have a great goal to aim for. i only have a stone or so to loose, the way I'm going on about it you'd think I was clinically obese:D

If you have an i-pod or itunes you can get it from their podcast and search under podrunners.

Just signed up for this by the way. Not sure where you live but it might help further with motivation!
