Thin-Wall Pressure Vessel

Hi, I'm designing a pressure vessel to house a D-cell battery, which is used to power a data logger for elephant seals. I have chosen 5000 series aluminium alloy for its corrosive resistance and strength. I will weld 1 end cap to the cylinder and the other needs to be removable. I have chosen to use spherical dome shape end caps although tough to machine prove much stronger. My problem is ways to seal it. I am thinking of a thread with a rubber o ring and maybe a toggle clip, although with the space restrictions this maybe too bulky and weak.

The device currently used are working perfectly but the battery is enclosed in epoxy so reusing the device involves the tedious task of removing the battery by sawing through the epoxy and re-potting the parts. The seals dive upto 2000m which cause a pressure of 20 MPa, needing to be small and light as possible, it needs to also be strong to last upto a year( devices are actually pretty cool using sim cars they text a computer everytime the seal surfaces with all the relavant data) .

Any other tips on how to seal such a small device - whole vessel will prob be like a kinder agg size and shape but twice the length.

Sorry this prob sounds ridiculous in words.

Also please try to avoid the seal/seal puns.

    Cheers.
