I knew they had brought in the scanners at a couple of UK airports now, but I didn't think they had made them compulsory. Why did they not just perform a regular body search instead?

Must remember to avoid Manchester airport now as I'm not particularly keen on the idea of the body scanners myself. If they were an option but you could still have the regular pat down instead then I'd not have as much of a problem with them and might have ended up agreeing to walk through it just out of curiosity, the fact that they have made them compulsory though turns me off the idea.
