Right so, a friend of mine was contacted today via email from MTV!!...It said that they wanted to use a video that she uploaded on youtube for some kind of show.(probably one of them "you've been framed" type shows) She thought it was a joke, but there was a number on the bottom.

So she rang it anyways thinking it was some kind of joke, but it was some producer from the station and said that they were interested in using the video, and she would recieve 250 euro. The person went on to say that they would send some forms forward to sign blah blah blah....

Just thought it was wierd the way they saw the video so fast when it was uploaded only about three days ago, and only had about 100 views....Just to be careful, did anyone get anything like this before?? And to say it again, she was actually talking to someone, saying they were from the station!

It's become a bit of a legal hot-potato since the BBC News 24 were caught using YouTube footage without the consent of the uploader.

The rate your friend is being offered seems reasonable...kudos to her, she should go for it, it's €250 more than she thought she'd earn!

OP I've actually been through the same thing as your friend, and with a good solicitor, she can make up to 8 or 10 times what they offered, even after paying the solicitor fee! I'll explain what you need to know, but i'm gonna need you to link to the video, thanks.

i'd be holding out for a royalty myself, she could get a lot more...

Thanks for your reply, im not sure i should link the video because her real name is kinda in her youtube name, if you know what i mean...but i can describe it for you...A girl walks into the sitting room and turns on the t.v, and a few seconds later someone else jumps out from behind the curtains and scares her, thats the video!!!
