Just thought I'd put up this short clip of a new Docudrama about Eskrima practisioners with some great instructors in it. I've been fortunate enough to train with 3 of the different Instructors on it (although I haven't seen that much of the movie yet) when we went to the Philippines. They were GM "Ondo" Carunbray (twice), GM Nick Elizar (twice) and GM "Diony" Canete. Absolutely wonderful experience. There are some of the other lads on here who have trained with some of the other GM's. Here are two clips:

I think you can see the attitude these guys have about their systems and how they will go to EXTREME lenghts to protect it.

    Story Daithi,
Nope Abner is in it but there are quite a few faces you would recognise,
"Cacoy" & "Diony" Cañete of the Doce Pares,Nick ELizar of Balintawak & "Ondo" Caburnay of Lapunti arnis. There are a heap of other guys on it too. it's definitely worth a look.

are there many escrima clubs in Ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 crki76

I realy don't know. I am probably alone in Limerick. There are maybe 2 clubs in Dublin.

it's a pity. escrima and kali and all the rest are being praised for being practical and worhtwhile, it's a shame it's not more common

People have no interst to train FMA or Filipino art of fighting! That's problem!

Really? If you look at the media it looks (to me anyway) like its trendy at the moment. It looks like something I could enjoy

FMA is realy popular around the world at the moment. In Limerick everybody trains H2H combat ( mma, bjj, grappling...). It is fine as I like it too and KI BZ ( kalis ilustrisimo - bahad zubu) I save only for me and my familie.
