In 2008, when your Income Tax return was submitted by your accountant (I presume) if you had to pay tax for 2008, then you most likely might have paid preliminary tax for 2009.

So if in 2009, everything ceased, and if you can show that you did not make a profit, then you could reclaim any preliminary tax paid for 2009.

If 2009, if your accounts show a loss, then you can offset this loss against your 2008 profits, which would result in a refund.

You need to speak to your accountant about this.
