I have one of those files I downloaded which is two rar files, which contains about 20 other rar files. I figured out how to use UnRarX to drag and drop all 20 or so rar files into it and it extracts it unto a directors, but this then contains aboit 20 .zip files. I think if I combine these the installation package file in in there, but I can't do it

    Any idea how it's done?

I'm not quite sure I understand you. But usually with a series of rar files you just open the first one and (provided they are all in the same directory) the extractor app will handle the rest. I use The Unarchiver.

Ok I tried the unaarchiver. The original file I downloaded has two rar files. The unarchiver extracts this fine, and in the output directory are no less than 40 other files, all about 4mb in size, named tm1201.zip - tm1202.zip and all the way up to tm1239.zip.

If I click on any of these, it simply extracts the individual file in its own folder. If I highlight all of them and open, it just individually extracts all of them into their own folders. Inside each of these folders there is another file, which when extracted gives a file_id.dz

Surely there is a mac installation file in there somewhere - but I can't get it out. I downloaded the same file for my pc and it extracted fine.

ok i use unrarx to unrar stuff.

find the rar file with the lowest part number..... either the .rar file itself or *part001.rar

it should pickup all the rest and unrar into the proper end product. You don't drag and drop all the individual parts of the archive.

Failing this......you may well have downloaded a dud.

Oh, it looks like it might be a single zip file which was split up. I hate when people do this. This is what rar is for. So you may need to join them first.

    Try Machacha:

    Or Split and Concat:
