Hi all. I'm looking to buy a car for my friend for his 21st next week as his last one was written off. I have gathered a group of us and we now have the sufficient funds for the car. Its up in Carlow and I'm thinking about going up at the weekend to collect it.
My problem however is that I don't know what name to put on the change of ownership cert, should I put my name or my friends?
Also what do I do for insurance. I only wish to drive it approx 80miles. How do I go about getting insurance for this?

To put it in his name you have to sign new owner as his name. Insurance shouldn't be an issue to transfer for a day, who are you insured with on your own car ?

    Great present too, fair play.

    nice pressie :D

As above, sign his name. It'll take about 1 week for log book.

Get your insurance changed over for the day and hid it somewhere ur friend doesn't see it early :D

Well done to ye, very nice thing to do. As rj said temp cover for one day from your policy to the new car will do you.
