This was the high Point for clubbing in Dublin and probably the country. Think of all the packed mid week nights that used to run.

Saying any era is better than another is a pointless troll

The best year(s) were those when I was going out... 94-96. Everything before and after that was/is(and will be) crap.

98/99 were better music and clubbing wise personally. Depends on a lot of things though. Age, where you live etc.

Well for me that was pretty much the only time I experienced, hence being the best... :pac:

Fine if you're a student. What use are midweek nites to a person earning a crust?

The last thursday night for Electric City in Wax was the end of midweek clubbing for me and im a student. It really was a sad day, such good memories from those thursday nights. I barely ever go out during the week.

Techno Tuesday in The Kitchen was great I was only 16 but have great memories of that place :D

Ah yeah I have fond memories of going out during the week. The Kitchen, The Pod, The RedBox, Mono, Switch etc etc - during college we had our set routines of what clubs on what nights - brilliant cheap drink promotions... I could wander into a certain club on a certain night without calling anyone and just know a load of people I knew were going to be there.... Remember the massive lines around the block just for a normal night - no superstar dj needed?

heroin house :D classic you must sit for hours on end there rolling off these classics, your bonkers mate but you make me laugh:D

2000 wasn't great for me personally but that's not to say that others didn't have a great time, as Francois said posts like this are pointless as everyone had their time at different stages, some of us who are older experienced the original vibe which IMO cant be beaten, BUT Dublin up to the late 90's IMO was a hotbed for clubbing, as someone mentioned The infamous Tchno Tuesays in the Kitchen, you'd never see that thesedays, those were savage nights and i only missed about 8 Tuesays in 1 year..mad times.

Was a great period to be sure, you could go out every night of the week and there'd be something decent on.

Still though, after a few rocky years things are getting busy again...

to be fair to Dublin, we're spoilt for high quality international guests these days. genuinely spoilt. as in too many decisions have to be made about how to go see (see chillage's thread about the 30th april for a prime example).

worst thing is i very very rarely go out.

i started goin out in 98 at the age of 16 and it was amazin, the whole experience of real clubbing after bein goin 2 under 18s 4 so long was tops. the temple theatre was my home 4 the greater part of 6 years and 4 me was the best irish club ive ever been in. but i felt that around 01 - 03 were the best years i had in there, pumpin hard trance & hard house all night and the place was always packed, it was great.
but as mentioned in an earlier post above, thats just my opinion on my fav era, every1 has there own special time when they got there kicks.;)

The dangers of taking yips every weekend at 16.

Most people's prime clubbing age is 16/17-25 ish. At that age, all of your friends will be going out, you've not really any responsibility to stop you going out, and you usually have the disposable income to afford it.

So, people are only going to experience those years properly, and any other years will pale in comparison to them.

In conclusion, this is a silly thread.

P.S. I'm in my prime clubbing age, but I think the scene is shit in Dublin. Really ****. I have infinitely more fun DJ a night than going to it as a punter. However, nights I've had in other cities have been amazing, so I think Dublin's just full of tossers at the moment. Probably myself included.
