Google Map of Galway services?

Just thinking... would a sticky post with a publicly-editable GoogleMap of all the suggested services in Galway be handy? The board is full of suggestions for the various services in town.... would it be handy to have a map showing all these services which could be edited by users depending on openings\closing downs etc. ...Like the galwaytransport.info map

It's a good idea, but I think that data-quality is the challenge.

Google has the capacity to add points of interest .. and God bless the tourists whose photos have seen the cathedral placed anywhere between Oranmore and Moycullen! (for example). If anything, I think they're clamping down on the ability of Joe-Soap to add things to public maps.

Google maps also have a few other challenges: there are a few glitches in the application still, and I've learnt the hard way to always go right out of maps and back in again before I'm sure that what I'm seeing is what was saved. (I thought I was going nuts for a while: bus-routes seemed to grow whole new branches all by themselves).

There are other open mapping tools around too: some folks have added a lot of Dublin bus routes to one (I could find the link.

The city-council does have a map of public-interest things, but 1) I'm not sure if they keep it up to date, and 2) it only works in IE.

whoseview.ie seems to be compiling something that will be similar to a google map of galway services - and since you'll be able to look at it by category it should be easier to navigate than just a massive bunch of red placemarks at every business location in town.

    Goldenpages has map references.
Ok, it's not updated by users and sometimes it's a bit off the mark (same as googlemaps) but it's something.
