First Trail Run...

I'm thinking of doing my first trail run on Saturday (the 7k Maulin IMRA run), but I just have a few question if someone could help me out.

    1. Can anyone just show up and run in it?
    2. In terms of difficulty is it a suitable race for someone who has never run in a trail run, but has a reasonable level of fitness on the road?
    3. I only have regular road shoes. Are these adquate for this race?

    Cheers for the help!

1: Yes, along with your €7 race fee and once off €10 yearly registration

    2: Yes

3: You'll get around albeit maybe a lot slower then others on the descents

There's still some snow on parts of the course so full on studded shoes might be best although they'll be poor enough on the fireroad sections. A trade-off in terms of deciding where you want to go quickest in comparison to the others :)

I guess I'll just HAVE to go quicker on the fireroad so!

Okay after the Trail Runners question....here is another newbie question.

What clothing would you wear for this? (The thoughts of snow is beginning to make me think twice about that)
