    Hi,
I am planning on doing a Triathlon in June. So I need to learn how to swim properly, I can swim 12 lengths of a 25m pool front

crawl, but this is with my head out of the water and poor technique. I know this question can not be answered correctly, but I just

need a rough guide as I want to know if it is possible to do it in 3 months. How long would it take me with 2 swimming lessons a week to

swim 30 laps of a pool(proper technique with my head under water)? I also could add 2 more days a week swimming to this. Also I

    am farily fit.

    thanks

Try and join a swimming club, there are plenty of master swimming clubs, all will have coaches etc and you will find your level in the club. You will also vastly improve your technique and strenght. Look up swim Ireland and check out your nearest masters club. What part of the country are you based ?

Stick at it! I started by doing half-lengths and standing up in a 20m pool (it was shallow enough to allow me to do this) then worked on putting my head in and breathing, then worked on technique and eventually stamina!! I have a fear of deep or open water so I have to restrict myself to pool-based triathlons but love them all the same. Don't try do it all at once, but do work outside your lessons on whatever you're being told
