    ...is the motor tax € 860 or is it € 302 per annum????

    €302 - if the car was registered in 2008 pre the C02 changes, you have the option to choose to tax it on the old system or co2 when tax comes up for renewal

    let me get this right......
    car first registered in UK on 10th Jan 2008
    bring it over & pay VRT
    apply for motor tax disk...and that's where i pay the €302 for the annual road tax???...e.g 2nd March 2010 to 1st March 2011????

    CO2 EMISSION LEVEL RATES FROM 1 JANUARY 2009
    The attached document sets out the rates of motor tax for brand new vehicles registered in this country after 1 July 2008. Vehicles registered before 1 January 2008, including imports first registered abroad prior to 1 January 2008, will continue to pay motor tax on the basis of engine size (cc rates are shown in previous link).

    Are you sure BF?

    It sounds from Atlantic dawn's quote from revenue that it only applies to imports first registered (in the UK) after June 2008?

    @Seamy1 - how did it work out for you?

    I brought in my April 2008 car from the UK last year and it is now taxed on co2 system here... the revenue guy tells me they use the cheapest option for cars registered jan2008 to june2008.
