Major iPod issue

Right, got a iPod Classic , 80gb model, about 2 years old roughly[not sure].

about a month or two ago, i started to have major problems with synching. It would synch about 300/400 songs, then stall on one song , and give the message 'the specified I/O operation on \Device\Harddisk1\DR16' . When ejecting the ipod after this , it doesnt work proper-skipping songs, some songs not playing etc.
I can get the iPod to work after a restore, and can manually put on about 100 or so songs, but lately this has become a major annoyance , picking what music I want for the day[who knows what mood will strike! etc] .
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

I have tried it with different files on other computers, same errors, so its not my computer or files thats the issue....

it sounds like your hard drive has developed a fault. Evey time you try to write to that faulty location, i.e. bad block you will get that error.

If its still cover with warranty you could get it repaid/replaced.
