I didn't realize there was such a thing till I just googled it, I thought all .17 were rimfire.
What is getting ammo for these like ?

Greylag has one for sale! PM him! I was looking at it but went with a different caliber in the end!

Great fox round and apparently they are huge in the US for coyote shooting. That tells me if they are good enough for a yank that can get any calibre they want for said, that the .17 CF is a class round. Think Bunny shooter has/had one. :)

It's my favorite for foxs it dose what i want, flattens like a hammer at realistic ranges and i have never had an exit hole it so light it just explodes in the fox. That's my no 1 nightmare where dose the bullet go after it hits the target.
Ammo is abit expensive €36 for 20

I have had 2 in my time. Excellent round out to 200 yards but wind affects it terribly. As stated above no exit on foxes or rabbits. No ricochets ever as bullet disintegrates on impact with anything.

For a casual fox shooter it is an excellent calibre. And rifles are normally cheap to buy as it's lost a lot of popularity.

Any idea of barrel life bunny?? but with ammo prices as above i guess it wont be an issue

Barrel life.................I have heard up to 2,500 which is half what you'd expect from a .223

But on the other hand it is not a target rifle and 2,500 rounds at foxes/rabbits at €36 per 20 is gonna take a few years :)

2,500 seems generous for a bore that tight. That said, it's not a massive case. Would be interesting to see how long it'd take someone to shoot one out. I've had my .25-06 about a month and a half now and I've probably put a hundred and twenty rounds through it, maybe another box. It's fairly barrel hungry too, would think 2,500 is a generous estimate, and it's second hand too. :o

This article states 2,000 rounds for a 17 Rem would be at least a minumum

    http://www.cabelas.com/story-123/schoby_remington_17/10204/The%252B.17%252BRemington%25252C%252BA%252BUnique%252BCaliber.shtml

Easy enough to get cleaning supplies for .17 now more so than when I had one years ago

These guys have everyting you would want for cleaning eg rods, jogs and patches

Not too bad so. I'm paying more than €36 a box for my ammo, so going to have to go easy on it shortly. Lot of fun to punch paper with it though. :)
